What is plug and play?

In this era, we take it for granted to whip out a device, connect to the internet and login to a software programme and get working; this was a very rare occurrence only a few years ago. Today we just click a button and use internet solutions and tool for our daily purposes. This and all other modern technology is made possible because of the advanced use of plug-and-play technology. We review the benefits of plug and play:

Efficiency:

Plug and play enhances efficiency and reduces the time lag in users’ tasks. Plug and play reduces the required skill level to install and use the application. Staff at all skill levels are able to access and work on the applications because tasks are segregated on skill assessment levels. Even with low skill levels, there is low negative impact on quality and faster pace of execution as compared against traditional techniques. This doesn’t mean that the operator can complete more complex tasks without higher skills. Skills are vital for the firm in ensuring proper application usage and quality enhancement. With plug and play, there is minimal effort required in installation which enhances efficiency.

Collaboration

Plug and play enables integration with other systems providing a great benefit to organisations. Plug and play improves the capacity to amalgamate performance-related technology and get a much better perspective on projects status from a performance point of view. Plug and play also allows integration of large information batches available to decision makers for improved performance. Collaboration encourages problem-solving. It’s less likely that employees will face difficulties working through problems if they have a strong collaborative structure within their organization; plug and play provides the necessary infrastructure for collaboration and enables teams to link up and collaborate.

Cost:

Plug and play increases productivity, boosts efficiency, is faster to train for and deploy and eases sharing and storing information. These attributes lead to reduced human error resulting in a lower cost structure and an increase in revenue for businesses. A plug-and-play system reduces the work quality concerns, offers an easy installation that reduces the total cost, and enable the company to utilize their resources better. One of the easiest ways to cut costs is by optimising your technology infrastructure. Cost reduction improves the business margins. This saving in cost may be passed to clients and provide the business a competitive advantage. Plug and play provides a basis on which continuous search for improvement can be laid which will improve the image of the firm for long-term success.

Security:

Plug and play utilises the cloud to operate, the data is handled by the cloud provider. Organisations with appropriate IT support have a strong preference for on-premises security solutions and need not trust another company with their private data however, this is a costly adventure with limited scaling opportunities. Plug and play files are stored on cloud servers with encryptions. This means that they are scrambled, which making it a hurdle for cybercriminals to gain access. The benefits of storing data and files in the cloud are many: You won’t clutter your computer. If your device crashes or is lost, you’ll still have access to your files. And it will take you a long time to ever use up all the space offered by most cloud providers, you will not need local back up plans.

 Conclusion:

Plug and play software applications are quickly gaining a foothold because of the accompanying benefits that they bring to organisations.
